Distracted Driving = Death: LOL?

My brother Jonas (Joey) Gerchick as a high school freshman. He was nicknamed "Joey the Kid" because of his sense of adventure and constant sense of humor. Nearly 6 feet tall and 175 pounds and never one to back down from a challenge, Joey thought wearing a seatbelt wasn't a big deal.

An editorial on the dangers of distracted driving For five years, as Coronado Explorer Journalism Advisor, I’ve kept my published newspaper columns to year-end “thank you’s.” This issue I break my silence because I care about someone: You. And our community. Prior to the January 29th home boys varsity basketball home game, Officer Hathaway and the Scottsdale Police Department, [...]

CHS Alumnus Living the Spring Training Dream

Heyer

Coronado athletes play their hearts out and leave everything on the field.  A Coronado athlete is also a student who lives their dreams to the fullest.  An excellent example of this is Craig Heyer (’04) who is currently a minor league pitcher in the New York Yankees organization. Heyer graduated from Coronado High School in 2004, lettering [...]

Blossoming Beauties

admin-ajax

Blossoms of love are blooming all across the Coronado campus. Can these majestic bloomed buds of beauty survive winter’s cold harsh winds of wisdom? Some do, some don’t. Only time can tell whether or not your new shrub is right or amiss. What some seeds don’t realize is how lovely these blossoms smell this time of [...]

houston edwards baseball[1]

Coronado Baseball is now a quinquagenarian, that is, it’s embarking on its 50th season. If you don’t know why this is a big deal, just look at the back of the shirts. Coronado has made the state playoffs 46 times out of 49 years, winning it all four times, most recently in 2007. The only question is: [...]

Spring Break Anti-Plans

IMAG0170

As spring break continues to draw nearer and nearer, the excitement over proposed plans heightens tremendously. Students talk of plans to travel across the country, go out partying, spend their time doing the insane amount of homework assigned, or sleep all day, every day. But what about those who have no plans? That’s where I’m [...]

PDA in the Hallways

In the middle of the crowded halls, Halle Hall (10) and Eivind Peterson (11) take a moment to show their affection for each other. PDA is constantly displayed in the halls, and while some affection is appropriate, there is a point it becomes too much.

Every 54 minutes, abell rings across the Coronado campus, sending hundreds of students flocking into the hallways. Most fight through the crowds on their way to class; others take the opportunity to stand in the middle of the halls making out with their significant other. This occurs on a daily basis, and every student has [...]
