“Hey Mom! Go to school!”Open House this Wednesday Evening By Hannah Collins The school year has started again as the incoming freshmen wander around getting used to the campus while seniors remember their past three years. Teachers are introducing themselves and handing out class room rules. Coaches are preparing their athletes for approaching games and administration is getting ready for a tradition of their own: open house. “We encourage that all the families attend open house. It is a chance for them to be apart of their student’s high school experience and a chance to meet the teachers. The Coronado administration welcomes all family members to be there on Wednesday”, stated our new assistant principal Dr. Flynn. This Wednesday, August 26 th is open house, starting at 6:00pm sharp. Open house is an event that occurs at every Scottsdale school. It is an opportunity for parents to get involved with their child’s school. First, everyone will gather in our beautiful auditorium for a general assembly and after they can explore the school. There are some who aren’t familiar with the process but basically a parent and student (if they chose to come) visit each of the student’s teachers to hear about curriculum, expectations, goals and other academic interests that their child will encounter this following year. Even seniors like Krysta Mangum have their parents go, “my parents like to go so they can know my classes, teachers and know my stress level!” Parents and students will spend about twelve minutes with each teacher so questions, comment and concerns can be answered. This occasion is perfect for those who like to meet and have a chance to talk to their student’s teachers without having to schedule an appointment. After the evening is finished, refreshments will be served in the lecture hall located by the bookstore. Also, the National Honor Society, Student Government, and Ambassador club will be walking around campus to direct parents who came unaccompanied by their student.
